the internet is a wonderful thing.

i had #5, the 16 yo who lives with the father, sign up on amazon.com just so she can make a wishlist, so when i want to send her things, like for christmas, i'll have a list to choose from.

i know.

just a note, thatthe 16yo who lives with her father, that spent the summer with me, blah blah blah, has been pretty good at chatting via email.

of course, she told me that her relationship with the married daughter who lives out there too is better for some reason. probably because said married daughter was pretty lonely.

i didn't tell you, the 15 year old had another serious asthma attack friday after school. she finished one nebulizer dose and then called me. that was 4:35pm. i called her about 15 minutes later, stuck in traffic, for an update. atthat point she was doing a second dose so the 10 year old was the one i talked to. i told her that if the 15yo didn't feel better or got worse to call 911. i kept on my way and called again about 20 minutes later and they had called 911. the policeman was there waiting for the careflite ems(the private backups for the firemen).

panic mode at that point.

at the 65 minute point the ems called me and said she was fine and that they'd wait for me.
when i got there her blodd oxygen level was fine and they said that i should not worry about calling them because just making a house call to administer their medication and to watch her oxygen levels was free, a service they provide for the community. they also said this is called respiratory season.

so i've made fudge for them.

and speaking of the 15yo:

talked to the g'rents briefly about the trip. the first excuse offered was that she shouldn't go because of her asthma. first i'd like to point out that the second and third events postdated their abrupt refusal to make good on their promise. i told them that with or without asthma she still had to live her life and that she was going. and that was the end of that.

the 15 year old had another major asthma attack at school. again, i was home for other reasons, putting me less than a mile away. i got there in the footsteps of the paramedics, with nebulizer and medicine in hand. so, more quickly than they could have gotten her to a hospital i got her stable.
she is watching tv now.

note: the de-icing windshield fluid i bought in colorado springs, half a gallon of which i left in the back seat of the car, came in very handy as when i got out to the car the windshields were completely iced over. i dumped what i could directly on the front windshield and took off.

still no nebulizer and no medicine for it.

wtf?

i am in the hole as far as pto goes and i really can't afford to be taking off work to get all this shit done. but her health is WAY more important than my fucking job.

this weekend...

where do i start?
maybe with the fact i didn't get nearly as much done as i wanted to. so another year of me sewing stuff at the last minute... oh well.

picked someone special up at the airport on saturday.
you go ahead and fill in the blanks...

did the trick or treat thing on monday night but it wasn't without it's own drama: the 15yo called me from school after having had to use her inhaler over 5 times that day. at the time of the call she was mildly short of breath. by the time i picked her up it was a bit worse. she went downhill on the drive to see an associate of our doctor. in the waiting room she got still worse and started panicking and hyperventilating. her lips started to turn blue so i went up to the desk and asked that they call ahead to the hospital. the receptionist panicked and called our regular doctor and had her set up with breathing treatments right then. before they called her back, the people around us started getting panicked as well. seems i was the only one calm and in control...
after three doses in two treatments she was fairly fine. but i am leaving work early today to get her nebulizer and the medication for that.
and i told her the new absolute rule: two albuterol uses in one hour and she is to call me immediately.
after that, halloween went off without a hitch.

and this morning it was incredibly hard to let that man get on that plane. next time i may not have the strength to.
